So in 2007, I had heard that Grindline had finished up working on the park at Kettle Falls, WA, but I wasn't sure if I drove out there, that it would be open for me to skate. I was eager to skate this brand new park. I had seen photos of it online. So I looked up the parks director on their website and emailed him out of the blue and asked him if the new skatepark was open or not? He replied and said it was. I told him when I was coming and he said he would meet me at that park. I was stoked to skate the new park, and meet the parks director. When I rolled up to the park it was early in the morning, and the park needed to be swept. So I got my broom and started cleaning the bowls. While I was down there working away, a younger boy on a scooter asked me if I was the "Pro Skater" that was coming out to skate the park? I told him that I'm by no means a "Pro Skater", but I was stoked to hear that someone was coming. After he left, I started thinking. Wait a minute. This is a small town, there's a pro skater coming? Hmmm... Sure enough, an hour or so later the parks director showed up along with a number of others who thought I was the pro that was coming to put on a demo Then they brought out the BBQ and started making burgers. It was a party! I was honored and humbled to be considered a "Pro Skater" for the day. The parks director asked me to send him a photo from that day, which then appeared on the front page of the Weekly News paper for that area. dan
